Pianiste américain, génial improvisateur considéré comme l'un des fondateurs du be-bop, Thelonious Monk, disparu en 1982, a composé de nombreux standards de jazz. Lors de ce concert solo enregistré à Paris, en 1970, il interprétait une douzaine de titres.
